How to Make Your Hair Extensions Last Longer?

Remember Goldilocks and the 3 bears….most of you might not remember the story but the name ‘Goldilocks’ immediately conjures up the image of a young maiden with beautiful, long golden hair turning heads wherever she goes! Women, all over the world, yearn for healthy, shiny, long hair – we all want those perfect locks!! Hair extensions are a great way to add volume to your hair as well as enhance its look. Maintaining them, however, is not an easy task but with a few tips and tricks up your sleeve, you can make them last longer.

  • Moisturize: Moisture is a key component in keeping your hair healthy. You need to be mindful of the fact that it is your natural hair and not the hair extensions that are attached to the scalp which means that they do not receive the same nutrients that your natural hair does. Therefore, you have to make sure that your hair is moisturized and that you use products which provide those nutrients to the extensions.
  • Stay away from Sulfates and Alcohol: Products with sulfates and alcohol can cause severe damage to your hair. These substances can lead to extreme dryness and cause hair loss and therefore you should avoid products which contain these harmful chemicals.
  • Wash your Hair Extensions: We often use different products on our hair (extensions included) and it, therefore, becomes important for us to wash our hair so that they can bounce back to their original state. Base your wash schedule depending upon the frequency of use of products on your hair. If you’re someone who uses different products almost on a daily basis or several times in a week, then you need to wash your hair at least once a week. But, if you use products occasionally, then you needn’t wash them too often – a wash every now and then is perfectly fine.

Thus, if you follow the aforementioned tips, you can prolong the life of your hair extensions.
